The Born That Way Argument

A guy at Wartburg Watch made the following comment:

The slippery slope of culture. Accept homosexuality, not as a lifestyle choice but you are burn [born] that way. Children as young as five years old announcing they are transgendered, years before they reach puberty, and now at of Germany (article below), the assertion that child predators are “born that way.” Can anyone see this chasm that we have crossed in the past 10 plus years??

One of the self-avowed progressives on the thread was upset by that remark and replied:

I object strenuously to this comment. LGBT does not equate to pedophilia. I would note that the reason child predators are punished is because children cannot consent to sexual contact. Seriously, I find this comment repulsive and it makes me very angry.

Was David conflating homosexuality with pedophilia? I’m not sure. Maybe he was. Maybe he wasn’t.

What I do know is that it’s strange for progressives or anyone else to get angry over someone mentioning that pedophiles or other groups, like homosexuals prior, use the “don’t make X illegal or say it’s immoral; I can’t help it, I was born that way!” argument.

I remember during the 1990s – and this may have started in the 1980s – homosexual rights groups began arguing that they were born homosexual, so society should back off and leave them alone and strip law books of anti-sodomy laws and so on.

That went on for a good decade or more.

Afterwards, pro-pedophilia groups – people who admit to being sexually attracted to children and who want adult-child sex legalized – began arguing that they are just “born that way.”

There are people who want incest legalized.

And yet later, Zoophiles – people who advocate for human-animal sex – also began claiming they are “born that way” and hence, they argue or reason, bestiality should be legal or carry no societal disdain.

Some zoophiles, in articles I’ve read, have expressed frustration or confusion as to why homosexual rights groups don’t want to support their bestiality.

Selective Focus, Selective Outrage in Abuse Coverage – Andy Savage Vs. Clayton Jennings

Among other blogs and news sources, I am referencing these blog posts at The Wartburg Watch blog (I don’t want to link to the posts themselves, as they will create ping backs, and I don’t want to create ping backs):

Post 1. Dated Jan 5, 2018, title:
I Thought He Was Taking Me for Ice Cream: One Woman’s #MeToo Story of Molestation By Her Former Youth Pastor, Andy Savage

Post 2. Dated Jan 8, 2018, title:
More Developments As Well As the Drop the Mic Moments in the Andy Savage/Highpoint Memphis #metoo Situation

This story of Andy Savage and Jules has been covered in national papers and on national television, such as by CBS News.

The story got started on TWW and on the Watchkeep blog.

I want to make it very, very clear I am not criticizing abuse survivor blogs or secular news stations or Twitterverse for calling out pastor Andy Savage for his sexual assault of Jules.  I think it is good and right that this story receive attention.

One thing I find puzzling is that the cases of alleged abuse by evangelist to youth, Clayton Jennings, did not receive any where near the attention as did the abuse story of Jules by Andy Savage.

Andy Savage is a carbon copy of Clayton Jennings.

Jennings is KNOWN to have more than one alleged victim. (Though I believe Jenning’s father denied in one interview that there is more than one – but there is more than one, the women gave statements about their experiences with Jennings.)

(Edit: I added the word alleged in there for legal purposes – I don’t think they are “alleged” victims, I believe them to be actual victims based on the news stories I’ve seen about Jennings and their statements to blogs.)

At this point, we only know of one victim of Savage’s. Savage swears up and down in his publicly released apology that Jules was his first and only victim, but I am betting there are more – but at this point, Jules is the one and only confirmed victim we have on record.

Asking for Clarification of Intent or of Content Got Me A Lea Smack Down at TWW Blog

I didn’t want to detract from Jules’ story at TWW (The Wartburg Watch) blog, so I am posting this here on my blog.

I am referencing these blog posts at The Wartburg Watch blog (I don’t want to link to the posts themselves, as they will create ping backs, and I don’t want to create ping backs):

In the second post mentioned above, I got into a little bit of a dispute at that site with a poster named Lea, who I don’t remember ever having a problem with previously.

• Maybe That’s The Real Reason Why Some Christians Want the Accused to Be Given A Pass

•Maybe That’s The Real Reason Why Some Christians Want the Accused to Be Given A Pass

I sometimes visit spiritual abuse blogs that also at times feature posts about how churches mishandle sexual abuse or domestic abuse cases.

Almost any time one of these blogs posts a new story about someone claiming they were sexually abused by someone in the church, reported the abuse to the church staff, the staff then swept the abuse under the rug and protected the accused, you can then expect several people to drop in to leave comments saying things like, “But we’re all sinners, who are you to judge the accused!”

Sometimes, the same thing happens in the secular world, and it got me to thinking.

A Critique of the Seneca Griggs Blog ‘Wartburg Whiners’ (Part 2)

Part One

I never meant for this to be a series of posts. I initially wanted to make a single post critiquing one Griggs did in regards to TWW’s post about pastor Todd Wagner’s teaching about working mothers. But here we are at Part 2.

Seneca Griggs, also known as James Brown or Megs48 or Buzz English, is proprietor of the horribly named and horrible blog Wartburg Whiners, where he criticizes TWW (The Wartburg Watch) blog, its owners Deb and Dee, and their commentators (which has included me) and anyone who is less than thrilled over any and all doctrines or practices of conservative evangelicalism.

In Griggs’ world, you are to be a mindless automaton who unquestioningly goes along with any false doctrine, or dishonest or perverted pastor, and must attend a church, no matter how spiritually, financially, or sexually abusive its members are to you.

In the purview of Griggs, criticism or questioning of any church or pastor or conservative doctrine is verboten. If you dare to question or criticize as such, you are automatically assumed to be a feminist or a liberal.

Jesus Christ Commits a Big Seneca Griggs No-No

Jesus, who I take it Griggs would claim to respect, would be in for a scolding by Griggs, because Jesus is fine with criticizing the church.

See, for instance, how Jesus criticizes various churches:

Revelation 2

Here are some excerpts from Rev. 2, where Jesus is doing what Seneca Griggs believes nobody should do: criticize any church ever!

A Critique of the Seneca Griggs Blog ‘Wartburg Whiners’ (Part 1)

Part Two

Update, October 2017 – Griggs attempted to leave a comment on one of my newer posts about mental health, which I trashed. He apparently has another “Wartburg Whiners” blog hosted on WordPress here. (His active Whiners blog is hosted by Blogspot).

I have blocked Griggs under the name and info he used most recently to try to post to my blog here, which includes this information:

name: senecagriggs

e-mail: senecagriggs@yahoo.com

IP: 108.197.214.58

I am mystified at Seneca Griggs’ on-going obsession with, and hatred and venom at, TWW (The Wartburg Watch) blog.

Judging from Griggs’ Archives section, his blog was started in 2014, and he continues to post there as of 2017.

Griggs, also known as James Brown or Megs48 or Buzz English, has a blog, called “Wartburg Whiners,” where he regularly criticizes or nit picks almost every post Deb or Dee publish on their blog, TWW.

I have had my differences with TWW myself.  I don’t see eye to eye with the blog owners or all of the regular commentators there on every topic.

I’ve written before that, to my displeasure, the general flavor at that blog, and at ones like it, leans liberal, left wing, at least in the comment section. (You can read my thoughts about that here if you’d like.)

But how is it that anyone can so vehemently resent and object to a blog by people that are seeking to protect the vulnerable, the hurting, and the wounded, or to call churches to start preventing child molesters from victimizing church children?

“WHINERS”?

Why is a group of people, (some Christian, some not), who are concerned with aiding victims and seeing justice done, being characterized by Griggs as being “Whiners”?

Is it really charitable to call a group of people who want to help the marginalized and the abused, “whiners”? Or could Griggs simply not come up with a snazzier name for his blog, and that was all he could think up?

Not only do many of the participants at TWW blog speak up on behalf of the victims, but many of them have also been hurt by pastors, churches, some Christian doctrines, or by other Christians.

I guess Grigg’s blog title of “Whiners” would include me as well, since I was a regular participant there for a few years, and I still drop by on occasion. Thanks so much, Griggs, for casting me as nothing but a “whiner.”

Do you know how Jesus referred to the same types of people who Griggs is calling “Whiners” on his Whiners blog?

Jesus called them, or compared them to people or things such as, Prodigal Sons, Lost Coins, or, he said he would leave the 99 sheep to go in search of the One Lost Lamb.

Velour Apparently (Was) Posting as Anonymous At Wartburg Whiners Blog – Also: Megs48 Posting to My Blog Same Person as Buzz English

(this post has been updated below, July 15 and July 20, August 3)

In the midst of researching information for this post, I discovered that a suspicious poster on my blog here, Megs48, is linked to the Whiner blog.

If you are not familiar with the fall-out with a Wartburg Watch member named Velour, please see this post on this blog for background.

The WW blog (Wartburg Whiner) (link to that blog’s home page) is by a person (some  of whom feel is by an individual who goes by the names “Seneca Griggs”) who is obsessed with Deb, Dee, and the TWW (Wartburg Watch blog), but I am unsure who the author of the blog is.

The person who owns WW (“Whiner”) blog has posted to my blog before, under one of the earliest posts here (I am at least assuming this guy, “Buzz English” is the Whiner blog owner).

He showed up here on a much older post and was asking me what I “really” felt or believed about TWW, and her referred me to the Whiner blog. He seemed to be fishing for controversy.

And why would a random person online want my opinion on the Whiner blog, or on if TWW are “bullies,” unless said poster is also the owner who really, really hates Deb and Dee of TWW?

Someone whom I suspect is the WW guy – or a friend of his – who goes by the name “Megs48” – has posted to this Daisy blog a few times and refuses to clarify if she (or he) is in any way affiliated with WW blog; I have asked Megs about three times so far to please clarify her relationship with WW blog and she has not done so.

(Megs is very close to being blocked on this blog, by the way. Edit: well, keep reading. Yes, Megs has been banned, as has Buzz English.)

Oh, interesting. I just checked my blog’s membership information page to research who that earlier commentator was, and I see that the commentator, a “Buzz English,” and Megs48 are the same person.

Megs48 e-mail address contains the phrase “Buzz English” in it. Both screen names are using the same e-mail address to post to this blog, and they have one I.P.# in common. It’s the same person posting under two names. Deceitful stuff!
